New details in Monroe fatal motorcycle crash

Monroe police confirmed today that Gage M. Neanover, 23, was wearing a helmet at the time of a fatal motorcycle crash last week.

According to preliminary information from Monroe police, Neanover was killed around 5:30 a.m. Friday when he crashed his motorcycle into a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Hollytree Drive in the Colonial Manor Square subdivision off Ohio 63.

Neanover died of traumatic head injury and his death was ruled an accident, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

A crash report with more information from the incident has not yet been completed by Monroe police.

The woman whose Honda CRV was struck said she was coming home from work when she saw Monroe police officers in front of her home. She was told they were investigating a fatal accident, she said.

Since Jan. 1 there have been 78 motorcycle crashes in Butler County, excluding Neanover’s crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Statistical Analysis Unit. Of those, there was one fatality, 60 injuries reported and 17 property damage only.
