Former Springboro resident Frank N. Kautzmann sentenced in investment fraud case

A former Springboro man was ordered to pay back thousands of dollars he scammed from his investors.

Frank N. Kautzmann was sentenced today in Warren County Common Pleas Court after he pleaded guilty Sept. 21 to theft. According to the Ohio Division of Securities, Kautzmann sold $30,000 in investments related to a merger and formation of a new company, ANTS Software, Texas. Kautzmann misrepresented the investment and spent investor funds on himself.

In addition to paying restitution, Kautzmann, now of Portage County in Ohio, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, all suspended, and three years of probation, the division announced.

To avoid potential financial fraud in Ohio, investors are encouraged to call the division’s investor protection hotline at 877-683-7841 before they invest money and ask:

  • Is the brokerage firm and salesperson licensed to sell securities in Ohio?
  • Have any enforcement actions been taken against them?
  • Is the security properly registered with the Ohio Division of Securities?
