Two women from West Virginia are facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop in Hancock County.

Troopers stopped a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan around 2:45 a.m. Thursday for a marked lanes violation on U.S. 68. “Criminal indicators” were observed, and a Hancock County Sheriff’s Office drug-sniffing K-9 alerted to the minivan, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers searched the van and seized 392 grams of heroin they said had a street value of $69,776.

The driver, identified as Shaquana M. Carter, 27, and passenger, Dawnsha M. Hughes, both from Charleston, W.Va., were booked into the Hancock County Justice Center in Findlay on suspicion of possession of heroin. If convicted as charged, each could face up to 11 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.

Last year, troopers removed 163 pounds of heroin from Ohio's roadways. Click here for a complete list of drug arrests by county.
