Timothy Villano, 26, also was charged with OVI, fleeing the scene of an accident and reasonable control and display of license plate. After the accident, Villano ran away but was apprehended by police, said Middletown police Maj. David Birk.
Villano appeared this morning in Middletown Municipal Court, and his preliminary hearing was set for May 28. Judge James Sherron set Villano’s bond at $30,000 cash, surety or property. He remains in the Middletown City Jail.
The other driver, Roy Stidham, 49, of Middletown, was flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with life-threatening injuries, according to the police report. He was listed in critical condition this afternoon, according to a hospital official.
When police found Villano, he was lying in the grass on Wren Court. He appeared to be “disoriented and confused and did not make sense” while speaking to officers, according to the report.
Both directions of North Verity Parkway at Hughes Street were shut down for several hours and the road reopened around 10 p.m.
