The alleged at-fault driver, Timothy Villano, 26, of Middletown, was charged with aggravated vehicular assault after the two-car accident that closed Verity Parkway near Hughes Street for hours Saturday night.

Villano also was charged with OVI, fleeing the scene of an accident and reasonable control and display of license plate. After the accident, Villano ran away but was apprehended by police, said Middletown police Maj. David Birk.

Villano’s preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday. Judge James Sherron set Villano’s bond at $30,000 cash, surety or property. He remains in the Middletown City Jail.
