Steward told police he shot at 47-year-old John Thrasher after an argument near an elevator inside the library, our media partner 10tv.com WBNS-TV in Columbus reported.
Steward told police he chased Thrasher through the second floor of the library with his handgun out. A library security officer confronted Steward as he surrendered, according to 10tv.com
Thrasher was shot in the ankle and was taken to Grant Medical Center. He was found in the library’s basement.
Steward faces a felonious assault charge.

One person was shot this afternoon inside the main branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
The Columbus Division of Police said officers responded shortly after 3 p.m., and that the suspect is in custody, our media partners 10tv.com WBNS in Columbus reported.
One person was taken to Grant Medical Center and was reportedly in stable condition.
The Columbus Dispatch reported that the shooting happened in the basement of the library on South Grant Avenue, and that library patrons heard several gunshots.
The building was evacuated and the library is on lockdown while police investigate, according to 10tv.com
Gregg Dodd, director of marketing and development for the library, said the main branch will reopen once police complete their investigation.
