Trooper Jason Hofmann was out of his car, wearing his reflective vest and taking measurements on the right berm when a Chevrolet Astro van traveling south on U.S. 42 drifted off the right side of the road and struck him.

Hofmann was flown to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he remains in stable condition. He didn’t suffer any internal injuries, but injured his back and hip.

The driver of the van was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
