Call center company StarTek Inc. has landed a third tenant for its new downtown Hamilton location and is now “aggressively” hiring customer service representatives and supervisors for the new business contract, said site manager Scott Farmer.

There are still about 100 current job openings to fill at the call center, Farmer said. Earlier this month, StarTek announced that it had about 150 jobs open at the Hamilton location.

A job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday for job seekers, Farmer said. Candidates can apply in person at the call center during that time, located at 150 High Street, in the former Elder-Beerman building.

New hires will start the positions by Nov. 9 beginning with paid training time, Farmer said.

“We’ve got to ramp very quickly for this client,” Farmer said.

Job seekers can also apply online and view job openings at www.startek.com/careers, but applying online is not required, he said. However, submitting applications online could speed up the hiring process, he said.

At Thursday’s event, he said to expect on-the-spot interviews and assessments for all positions with the exception of management-level hires. Management applications will still be accepted. Due to the quick turnaround, he advised attendees to come “really just being prepared. Dress for the part.”

All jobs going forward will be filled on a permanent basis, he said.

Colorado-based StarTek, which provides business process outsourcing services, first opened in July the Hamilton call center in formerly vacant space. StarTek is expected to create nearly 700 jobs once it ramps up to full operations.

Current employment levels at the downtown facility have reached about 175 workers, Farmer said.
