‘Genuine man of God’

The Rev. Francis Miller passed away Oct. 13. Rev. Miller held a doctorate in education and was the founder of Badin High School, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hamilton, and a leader in the Hamilton-Fairfield Ministerial Association.

He wrote the history of St. Gregory Seminary. He was known as an independent priest who lived the command to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves.

Rev. Miller and Chaplain Darrell Stone conducted the first Protestant-Catholic wedding ever conducted in the city of Hamilton in 1975. He was a licensed counselor, friend to many, teacher of judges, attorneys, businessmen and women, ministers of the Gospel, and a loyal family member.

One of Rev. Miller’s mottoes was, “The church is always in need of reform.” Rev. Miller’s services were conducted at St. Celia Catholic Church in Cincinnati. The Most Rev. Daniel Pilarczyk, archbishop, conducted his funeral service.

Some say that we are all a mystery to each other. Francis Miller was not a mystery. He was a true and honest friend. Hamilton and Badin High School are richer today because a genuine man of God walked and taught among us. Thanks, Frank.

Darrell E. Stone
