New West Chester brewery sets opening date

Butler County’s newest brewery is set to open in early September, according to its owners.

Grainworks Brewing Company, 7790 Service Center Drive in West Chester Twp., is the work of Steven Brock, Brian McGinnis and Anthony Russell, all of Liberty Twp.

A grand opening celebration from 11 a.m. until midnight Sept. 9 will feature six to eight different beers on tap for the festivities, including flagship beers Haybale ESB, Scottish MISTS Scottish Ale and Killjoy Porter.

Located just off Cox Road near Voice of America MetroPark, Grainworks Brewing Company will initially offer six beers, including IPA, Stout and Porter.

Seasonal and special releases featured at the event will include blueberry ale, brown ale and West Coast IPA.

Amenities for the child-friendly business include a tap room, brewery tours, beer to go, outdoor seating and live music.

Grainworks Brewing Company is teaming with Lyon’s BBQ to serve up Texas-style beef brisket and pulled pork straight out of a smoker during the grand opening event.

Brews likely to be featured shortly after opening could include sour beer, which has an intentionally acidic, tart or sour taste, and a saison, a pale ale that is highly carbonated, fruity, spicy and often bottle conditioned.
