Montessori Kids Universe of Mason
Mike Raulston said he plans to open Montessori Kids Universe of Mason, “a preschool offering a Montessori education experience for parents who want their children to develop self-confidence, personal independence and, most importantly, a life-long love of learning.”
MKU, which is scheduled to open April 8, will offer a classic Montessori education enhanced with a Reggio inspired art and science experience, for every age group, Raulston said.
It will serve children from 6 months to 6 years of age and be open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday to provide busy parents a variety of enrollment options to meet their specific needs, he said.
The new business will employ 15-20 teachers, assistant teaches and administration support. It is looking to hire lead teachers and an Administrator.
MKU is at about 40 children for its startup phase but plans to be at 110 children when it is fully staffer, Raulston said.
“The facility was originally constructed as a daycare center providing MKU the perfect foundation to create our new school,” he said. “We are making significant improvements to the classrooms and interior spaces, while providing a new look to the exterior.”
Amber Rue, MKU’s Head of School, relocated from Chicago for the position. Rue has over 20 years’ experience in early childhood education teaching and leadership roles, Raulston said.
Raulston said his interest in childhood education, specifically Montessori Education, started when his children attended a Montessori preschool in Anderson Twp.
“We had tried various other preschool options but couldn’t find the environment we wanted,” he said. “Finally, when we enrolled them in a Montessori preschool, they flourished and that established the foundation for learning that has helped them excel even as adults.”
