Middletown Walgreens evacuated after solar panels catch fire

UPDATE: 11:43 a.m. March 5

Employees remain outside a Walgreens as firefighters remain on scene where a fire was reported from the solar panels atop the Walgreens store, 700 S. Breiel Blvd.

A ladder truck, two fire engines and a fire department SUV remain outside the business, which is cordoned off with caution tape. No smoke or flames are visible.

A fire at a Walgreens here this morning forced employees to evacuate the building.

The fire started on the solar panels on the roof of the business at 700 S. Breiel Blvd. around 10:45 a.m., according to emergency dispatchers. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes, dispatchers said.

No one was injured during the incident.
