Growing patient volumes and the approaching flu season has prompted Atrium Medical Center to hold a job fair Wednesday to recruit nurses and other health care professionals to fill about 50 job openings available at the Middletown hospital, said Julie Smith, senior human resources consultant.
In particular, Atrium Medical is seeking harder to find experienced nurses for inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital such as surgery and advanced cardiac care units, Smith said.
Atrium is also hiring for allied health professionals such as radiology technicians, social workers, occupational therapists and more positions, according to the hospital.
To apply, job seekers are asked to submit an application and resume online at www.premierhealth.com/careers where additional job listings can also be found. Then, a job fair will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital's main lobby, located at One Medical Center Dr. in Middletown.
Smith suggests applying online as well as attending Wednesday’s event in-person to boost the chances of getting hired.
“We’re going to have managers here on-site available for individuals to actually speak with directly,” Smith said.
She also suggested bringing multiple copies of a resume to the job fair, pointing out that there will be opportunities to meet with multiple managers if applicants are interested in more than one position.
One of the benefits of working at Atrium Medical is the opportunity for development, said Matt Hennigan, also a senior human resources consultant. Within the hospital and as part of the larger Dayton-based network Premier Health, employees can move up and around the organization easily to further their career, Hennigan said.
“We want people who are here because they care about the patients,” he said.
Hennigan and Smith also pointed out the easy access off the highway to Atrium’s campus and benefits and services available on-campus including Atrium Family YMCA as reasons for applying.
Currently, Atrium Medical Center is the city's second largest employer behind AK Steel. The hospital employs about 1,500 people, according to Atrium.
In other hospital news, Cincinnati Eye Institute started construction in September at the Atrium campus for a new $4.5 million, approximately 17,000-square-foot medical office building. It will replace the independent practice's existing office on Central Avenue when it opens next summer.
