Two business seek Main Street locations

HAMILTON — Two potential businesses on Main Street are moving along through the process of licensing and certifications.

The property owner of the former BP gas station, 202 Main St., has applied for a liquor license with the state. The permit would allow beer, wine and prepackaged mixed drinks to be sold until 1 a.m. at the location, according to the city report.

The application was reviewed by city administrators and City Council as part of the process under the Ohio Department of Liquor Control. The city has no objections and will give the OK to the application, according to city records.

The property is owned by Oday Properties LLC, which is owned by Rami Odeh, a Springboro resident and Dayton-based accountant. Odeh, who owns 10 acres of undeveloped commercial land in Clearcreek Twp., acquired the Main Street property in December 2010 for $40,000. Improvements were made to the property earlier this year to comply with city health code violations.

Odeh did not return messages by the JournalNews seeking comment and it is unclear what the timeline is to open the business.

Any plans to renovate the facility may need to be reviewed by the Architectural Design Review Board because it is a historical district.

The city has reached out to the owner in an effort to assist in the permitting process, said ADRB Chairman Mike Dingeldein.

Plans to build a Family Dollar across from the gas station, at the corner of Main and C streets, have gotten the OK from the architectural review board. The required Certificate of Appropriateness was approved for Family Dollar at the board’s meeting last month.

Family Dollar was “very responsive” in adjusting its plans to make their building blend in better with the taller neighboring structures, Dingeldein said.
