Red Hat Society chapter wins grand prize in float contest

HAMILTON — The Merry Berry Teas, Red Hat Society chapter float was the grand prize winner of 29 floats competing in the 48th annual 4th of July parade in Hamilton on Sunday. Following in first place was the AMVETS Fort Hamilton Post 2 float.

The Altrusa Founders Award was also given to the Merry Berry Teas, Red Hat Society. Other parade float winners include:

• Second place: Miami Valley Ballet Theatre

• Third place: Cub Scouts Pack 923

• Fourth place: Hamilton West Baptist Church

• Fifth place: Lindenwald United Methodist Church

• Sixth place: Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Unit 15

Cub Scout trophies went to:

• First place: Cub Scouts Pack 926

• Second place: Cub Scouts Pack 923

• Third place: Cub Scouts Pack 907

A Boy Scout trophy for first place was awarded to Boy Scout Troop 956.

The parade was sponsored by the Michael J. Colligan Fund of the Hamilton Community Foundation and the 4th of July Committee.
