An Oxford officer on patrol northbound on College Corner Pike at 3:45 p.m. June 16 saw a man he knew as having an active warrant for his arrest riding a scooter into the parking lot of Parkview Arms Apartments.

The officer followed him into the complex and caught up to him running up a flight of stairs and was able to apprehend him, according to a police report

As they went back down the stairs, the man allegedly dropped a small black zipper case to the ground, which the officer identified as partially open and containing an uncapped, loaded hypodermic needle sticking out of it. The officer retrieved the case and the man initially denied dropping the case and later admitted ownership. He also said the needle contained methamphetamine.

He was walked back to the police cruiser and searched incident to arrest. He was also found to be in possession of a glass smoking pipe. The black zippered case was also found to contain empty plastic baggies with residue and small rubber containers, also with residue.

The man was taken to the police department where paperwork was completed issuing citations on the Oxford Police Department warrants. The Butler County Sheriff’s Department also responded to cite him on a probation violation warrant.

He was then released. Items confiscated from him were entered into evidence and the loaded needle was to be sent to the crime lab for analysis, with possible charges pending those results.
