Hydrant testing in Fairfield Twp. could last 8 weeks

Fairfield Twp. Fire Department’s annual fire hydrant testing is set to begin on Monday and will continue until it is completed. That could take as long as eight weeks.

Testing will insure fire hydrants are properly operating if they are needed to be used in the event of a fire in the area.

Testing is set to occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day, and residents could experience discoloration in their water. Residents should refrain from washing clothes until the water clears. The discoloration is caused by sediment being stirred up as large volumes of water flow out of a hydrant.

The Fairfield Twp. Fire Department will be working in cooperation with both the Hamilton and Butler County water departments.
