Butler County OVI checkpoint nets one arrest

Time is running out for a bill in the Ohio Senate that calls for first-time drunken driving offenders to opt for an ignition lock instead of a suspended driver’s. Advocate say the lock, which makes the car inoperable if alcohol is detected, would save lives. STAFF.

Time is running out for a bill in the Ohio Senate that calls for first-time drunken driving offenders to opt for an ignition lock instead of a suspended driver’s. Advocate say the lock, which makes the car inoperable if alcohol is detected, would save lives. STAFF.

Two vehicles were diverted for further investigation during the Friday OVI checkpoint conducted by the Butler County OVI Task Force which resulted in one OVI arrest.

Task Force officers checked 661 vehicles between 7 and 10 p.m. travelling on Cincinnati-Dayton Road near Todhunter Road in Monroe, according to Pete Reising, task force coordinator.

Participating agencies included Monroe police, Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
