There is an Air Quality Alert in effect for Butler and Warren counties through midnight Sunday, issued by the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency.

The agency expects to see levels of ozone that will be unhealthy for sensitive groups, which includes the elderly, children, people with asthma or other breathing problems and people with lung or heart disease.

It urged residents in these counties to help reduce ozone formation by taking a few actions:

  • Take the bus, carpool, bike or walk instead of driving
  • Refuel your vehicle after 8 p.m., don't top off the tank and tighten the gas cap
  • Don't idle your vehicle
  • Avoid using gas-powered lawn equipment
