The agency expects to see levels of ozone that will be unhealthy for sensitive groups, which includes the elderly, children, people with asthma or other breathing problems and people with lung or heart disease.
It urged residents in these counties to help reduce ozone formation by taking a few actions:
- Take the bus, carpool, bike or walk instead of driving
- Refuel your vehicle after 8 p.m., don't top off the tank and tighten the gas cap
- Don't idle your vehicle
- Avoid using gas-powered lawn equipment

A heat wave will move into the area during the Fourth of July holiday this weekend, with high temperatures reaching the low and mid-90s.
Overnight lows will be in the 70s.

For Independence Day, conditions will be similar, with sunny skies, a high near 94 degrees and a low near 70 degrees.
This pattern of hot, dry days will carry into Sunday, when the high will be near 94 degrees, and fall to around 70 degrees overnight.
