The best bet for landing an entry-level job at Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America Inc. is by applying to work at the plant with Anchor Staffing in Mason, said the staffing agency’s local manager Steven Pickelheimer.
Anchor offers temporary-to-hire jobs at the Warren County manufacturing plant, which produces starters and alternators. On Monday, Feb. 23, Mitsubishi Electric and the city of Mason announced that the auto supplier is expanding again and will add 100 new full-time jobs by the end of 2017.
Anchor Staffing can help job seekers get a foot in the door as Mitsubishi Electric turns to Anchor to fill open jobs in industrial assembly. After working 520 hours, all Anchor associates are eligible to be hired in full-time jobs directly by the company, Pickelheimer said.
“There’s room for growth. Mitsubishi believes in hiring from within,” he said.
All temporary positions start at $10 an hour. Full-time employees hired by Mitsubishi are raised to $11.05 an hour and have the chance to earn incremental raises after that, he said.
Potential applicants must apply in-person at Anchor Staffing’s office at 770 Reading Road, Suite E, in Mason. The best times to visit and fill out an application are at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. weekdays, although walk-ins are welcome, he said.
To qualify for a job with Anchor, applicants will take a basic skills test. Job offers are contingent on being able to pass a drug screening and background check.
Anchor is anticipating job openings due to Mitsubishi’s expanding business.
“The more flexible and available they are, the more success they’re going to have to become full-time and enjoy some longevity for Mitsubishi,” Pickelheimer said.
Anchor also offers employees paid medical and retirement benefits. Employees have the potential to receive paid holidays, he said.
Other opportunities to apply include two upcoming job fairs where Anchor will be accepting applications from noon to 4 p.m. March 17 and March 31 at OhioMeansJobs-Butler County at 4631 Dixie Hwy., in Fairfield.
The company also lists jobs online at http://www.meaa-mea.com/company/careers, but Pickelheimer said positions the company fills directly are usually more advanced skill levels.
