Police say woman's blood-alchol was twice legal driving limit

Feb. 5

A female driver drifting across the double yellow line on South Erie Highway led police to the KFC at 2100 S. Erie Hwy. before she would stop as requested by officers. According to police, Bonnie L. King, 58, of the 1100 block of Edison Avenue had a smell of alcohol about her and told police she didn’t know how much she had drank. After failing field sobriety tests, King’s blood alcohol content was 0.209, more than twice the legal limit. King was charged with OVI, and will appear in court Feb. 15. According to court records, the suspect has prior OVI and DUI offenses.

Police said they arrested a local man after finding a burnt marijuana cigarette and an open can of Budweiser in his car after stopping him for not signaling a turn. According to police, Robert S. Tye, 36, of the 1600 block of Kahn Avenue, also had outstanding warrants. Police allegedly found a bag of marijuana in the suspect’s pocket. Tye was charged with OVI, obstructing official business, drug abuse of marijuana, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and domestic violence. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 15.

Feb. 4

A woman trying to leave Kroger on Erie Highway without paying for items was charged with possession of drugs after police said they found 17 Xanax pills and three Concerta pills on her. According to police reports, Kimberly S. Smith, 30, of the 400 block of Lockwood Avenue, couldn’t provide a valid prescription for the pills. She was charged with theft and felony possession of drugs and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 16.

Three people of the same residence were arrested Friday after police presented a search warrant at their home. According to police, inside the residence in the 100 block of Webster Avenue was found crack and marijuana pipes, digital scales, empty and full gel caps, syringes, and Ohio food stamp cards not belonging to anyone at the residence. John P. Lunsford, 30, was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of illegal possession of a food stamp card and possession of a counterfeit controlled substance. Christine A. Gabbard, 28, was charged with possession of heroin for a gel cap found in her purse. Michael V. Gabbard, 31, was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a food stamp card and possession of drug abuse instruments. The three suspects are set to appear in court Feb. 14.
