Police reports: Copper thieves cause basement flood

April 19

Someone broke open a front door to a home in the 600 block of Waverly Drive and stole a 48-inch television, a camera, jewelry, jewelry box, watch, a lock box with birth certificates and a marriage license inside and $1,375 in cash between 12:45 and 1:45 p.m.

Someone spray painted the west side of a building in the 600 block of Dayton Street between 3 and 6 a.m.

April 20

Someone broke the rear door to a home in the 800 block of Heaton Street and cut the copper piping inside, causing the basement to be flooded with water. The suspect(s) then ransacked the residence and took a safe. A furnace, washer and dryer were all damaged by the flooding.

Theft of an iPhone and keys to a vehicle from a woman on Campbell Avenue near North 10th Street around 11 a.m. Estimated value of the phone is $599.

Theft of $240 from a purse inside a vehicle in the 200 block of Park Avenue.

April 21

Theft of a plumbing snake, weed eater and power cord from a home in the 300 block of North 2nd Street. Estimated value of the items is $175.

Theft of 100 rounds of .223 ammunition and five magazines for an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle from a vehicle in the 1000 block of 13th Street between 3 and 11 a.m.

A woman told police someone entered her home in the 100 block of Barrington Drive between 10 a.m. and noon and made off with an unknown amount of cash.

Theft of a 55-inch television and an Xbox 360 from a home in the 800 block of Franklin Street after 1 a.m. Estimated value of the Xbox is $200. A value estimate for the television was not provided.

Theft of a GPS from a vehicle in the 1100 block of 13th Street. Estimated value is $150.

Theft of a cellphone from the bed of a truck in the area of North 8th Street and Campbell Avenue between 9 and 11 a.m. April 20. Estimated value is $200.
