Middletown railroad crossing reopens as police investigate a person hit by a train

The railroad crossing at Manchester Avenue and Charles Street has reopened, according to Middletown police.

INITIAL STORY:

Middletown police are investigating a person found dead this morning on the railroad tracks at Manchester Avenue and Charles Street, according to Major David Birk.

A passerby called about 7:50 a.m. about a person on the tracks. Birk said it appears the person was hit by a train sometime during the night.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office is on the scene and the area is roped off with crime scene tape. Birk said detectives are investigating to determine what happened.

The railroad cross at Manchester Avenue and University Boulevard is shutdown.
