Officers arrest man who fled with child

Fairfield Twp. police overnight arrested a man who had taken a child in a domestic dispute.

Taken into custody was James E. Cox II, 40, of Fairfield Twp. At about 3:15 a.m. the dispute took place and Cox reportedly fled, taking an infant with him, said Police Chief Richard St. John. Officers had issued a lookout warning to other agencies.

At an unspecified time later, however, Cox returned to the residence, where officers took him into custody. He was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor of domestic violence and taken to Butler County Jail, the chief said.
