FAIRFIELD — Michael Bonner said he and his girlfriend were “making out” at his residence, according to testimony by police Detective Ryan Fleenor. But Fleenor testified Thursday, July 29, in Fairfield Municipal Court that the intimacy turned into a sexual assault after Bonner’s 18-year-old girlfriend reportedly told him twice to stop.

On the night of July 10, Bonner, 20, was charged with rape, a first-degree felony. Police said the incident occurred at Bonner’s Carousel Circle residence the afternoon before he was arrested. Fairfield Municipal Court visiting Judge Jack Rosen on Thursday bound over Bonner’s case to a Butler County grand jury for consideration.

Bonner is represented by Gregory S. Beane.

Fleenor was working a security detail July 10 at Mercy Hospital Fairfield and was called to talk with the woman. He testified the couple were kissing at Bonner’s residence when “one thing led to another” and Bonner allegedly sexually assaulted her.

“She stated it was forcefully done,” Fleenor said.

Fleenor said Bonner’s accuser had bruising on the inside of a thigh and a bite mark on her chest, he said.

Fleenor also testified that Bonner initially said he couldn’t remember the incident, but later said he had consensual intercourse and stopped when his girlfriend said to stop.

During cross-examination, Fleenor said the woman performed a sexual act; however, the officer did not indicate if it was before or after she said she was assaulted.

The woman was sworn in to testify but did not take the stand. Bonner was arraigned July 14 and was released from the Butler County Jail after posting a $25,000 bond.
