UPDATE: New Miami High School lockdown lifted after officials find no credible threat

UPDATE @ 4:01 p.m.

Butler County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer said there does not appear to be a credible threat at New Miami High School, which was put on lockdown today.

There were postings on Instagram that mentioned someone possibly making threats with a gun, but officials have not been able to find anyone on site at the school.

The lockdown has been lifted, Dwyer said, and dismissal was delayed for about 20-25 minutes.

Officials will continue to investigate, Dwyer said.

New Miami High School parents are trying to get more information as they arrive at the school to pick up students

“I go to get in line to pick up my daughter and niece, and the next thing I know I’m pulling up and I see cops with guns and blocking he driveway and I stopped,” said parent Stevie Moon. “I wanted to know what was going on. He said that the school was on lockdown and they would release more information later.”

New Miami Local Schools posted to its website that it will be doing a “controlled dismissal shortly.”

"All students and staff are safe," the district wrote on its website.

The district’s evening activities are canceled for tonight, the district wrote.

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies continue to block the vehicle entrances to New Miami High School as they search for a possible man with a gun.

A social media report indicated there could be person on the property possibly with a gun, dispatchers said. No person has yet been found, they said.

INITIAL REPORT, 2:56 p.m.

New Miami High School in St. Clair Twp. is on lockdown this afternoon, according to dispatchers.

There were reports through social media of a possible male in the parking lot. Deputies on the scene have not found anyone with a weapon, according to dispatchers. The lockdown occurred about 2:45 p.m.

A school office employee confirmed is on a Level 1 lockdown, which means the doors are locked and no one is allowed in or out of the building.

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies are blocking vehicle entrances to the school.
