Fall through ceiling brings arrest

Police were called to an address in the 5000 block of College Corner Pike on Aug. 9 on a report of someone falling through the ceiling in a hallway closet.

The apartment manager told the police officer she had heard reports that police were there earlier looking for Jeffrey Rotsart, 22.

The manager had given a maintenance worker the key to a lower-floor apartment in order to check it, but he and the officer were admitted by the resident, Morgan Carter, 19.

The officer observed the attic access frame was damaged and Carter denied several times Rotsart was in the apartment.

The officer checked, however, and found Rotsart hiding behind a sofa under a blanket. He had a previous warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.

Carter is charged with obstructing official business for harboring or concealing Rotsart.
