Court hearings Thursday for 7 juveniles in theft case

FAIRFIELD TWP. — The seven juvenile boys charged with crimes from theft and burglary to complicity to those crimes will now appear in court on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Former Butler County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew J. Crehan is set to be the visiting judge to hear each case.

The boys — who range in age from 12 to 16 — were arrested on various felony charges in connection with at least four home burglaries on Dust Commander and Red Coat drives and Chelsea Court in the township between Dec. 19 and Dec. 31.

The initial court hearing had to be delayed to find a visiting judge to hear the cases. Court officials said there was a conflict because one of the victims is an employee of the Butler County Juvenile Court.

Police have said most of the stolen property has been recovered and included electronics, jewelry and family heirlooms.

The cases will be heard at 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Judge Ron Craft’s courtroom.
