FAIRFIELD — A resident taking an afternoon nap Sunday, May 9, was rudely awakened by a motorist who had apparently fallen asleep while driving.

The driver of a black Firebird traveling east on Lake Michigan Drive in Fairfield at approximately 4:50 p.m., Sunday, May 9, was “fatigued” when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed through the garage and living room of 5642 Lake Michigan Drive, according to police.

The resident was asleep on the couch at the time of the crash and was uninjured. The driver, whose name was not released Sunday night and who was also uninjured, was charged with failure to control, according to Fairfield Sgt. Don Garrett.
