Butler County OVI checkpoint Saturday in Monroe

UPDATE @ 9:45 a.m. June 10:

Tonight, Saturday, June 10, the Butler County O.V.I. Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint in Monroe.

The checkpoint will be held at 6262 Hamilton-Middletown Rd. (State Route 4 near State Route 63) in the northbound lane, starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m.

Officers, Deputies and Troopers will combat alcohol related crashes by combining the checkpoint with saturation patrols.

The Butler County OVI Task Force has announced an OVI checkpoint will be held Saturday evening.

The OVI checkpoint is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

“Based on provisional data, there were 392 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 430 people were killed last year in Ohio,” said Lt. Matt Schmenk of the State Highway Patrol.

“OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways,” Schmenk said.

The Butler County checkpoint location will be announced Saturday morning.
