6 candidate petitions rejected by Butler County elections board

Six candidates were not certified Monday by the Butler County Board of Elections.

They include:

Joseph P. Ebbing, candidate for Fairfield Twp. Trustee

  • The race for Fairfield Twp. Trustee requires 25 valid signatures on the petition for candidacy, but only 22 of the 26 submitted were valid.

Chris Cavens, candidate for West Chester Twp. Trustee

  • The race for West Chester Twp. Trustee requires 25 valid signatures on the petition for candidacy, but only five were submitted.

Tracey Soppanish, candidate for Monroe Local Board of Education

  • The race for Monroe Local Board of Education requires 25 valid signatures on the petition for candidacy, but only 20 of the 26 submitted were valid.

Sue Hensley, candidate for Millville Village Council

  • Though all of the signatures on the petitions were verified, she signed her statement of candidacy after the signatures were collected. That needed to be dated prior to collecting signatures.

Ted G. Hensley, candidate for Millville Village Council

  • The statement of candidacy was not dated.

Larry Marlow, candidate for New Miami Village Council

  • The race for New Miami Village Council requires 50 valid signatures on the petition candidacy but only 48 of the 66 signatures collected were valid.

Write-in candidates must file paperwork to be an official write-in candidate by Monday, Aug. 28.
