Boehner announces staff changes

Speaker of the House John Boehner announced Friday some “key staff changes” in his congressional office to happen in 2014.

Boehner, who represents the 8th Ohio Congressional District, said the staff changes include a new chief of staff who takes over for Mick Krieger, who is retiring after 33 years of federal service.

“This new lineup ensures we’re equipped to maintain the tradition of high quality constituent service and excellence the people of our district have come to expect from me and my staff,” Boehner said in a press release. “I’m grateful for Mick’s decades of service to our region, and I know the people of our community join Debbie and me in wishing him, Pam, Barbie and Bill all the best.”

  • Ryan Day will become Boehner's new Chief of Staff for his Ohio congressional office. Day, a Xavier University graduate, has served as Boehner's District Director since 2006. Day will direct Boehner's Ohio-focused official staff operations in West Chester Twp, Troy, Springfield, and Washington, D.C.
  • Frank DeBrosse, a native of Piqua, will take over for Day as District Director. DeBrosse, a Bowling Green State University graduate, has been a northern district field representative on Boehner's staff since 2009.
  • Kara Hauck, a Miami University graduate, will take over as Boehner's press secretary. She will take over for Brittany Bramell, who is leaving Boehner's office for a job opportunity in her home state of California. Hauck has spent the last two years in the office of U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Ripley, most recently as his press secretary.
  • Tristan Weis, a Miami County native, will become the Field Representative for the northern part of the 8th Congressional District. Weis, an Army veteran and Iraq War veteran, joined Boehner's office as a Wounded Warrior Fellow in July 2011. He has worked as Veterans Outreach Coordinator in Boehner's West Chester Twp., Troy and Springfield offices.
