Mercy Health - Cincinnati names chief medical officer

The Mercy Health - Cincinnati network announces Dr. Justin McGoldrick will serve as chief medical officer for Mercy Health - Cincinnati. He will be the primary liaison between medical staffs and Mercy Health’s executive team.

Dr. McGoldrick will report to John Starcher, president and chief executive officer, Mercy Health - Cincinnati. He will also be part of the team of Dr. Brent Asplin, chief clinical officer for Mercy Health, formerly Catholic Health Partners.

Dr. McGoldrick will assume his new responsibilities on Aug. 31. He replaces Dr. Dan Roth, who left the organization for a leadership role in another state in late 2014, and Dr. Herb Schumm, who’s been serving in the role on an interim basis while also retaining responsibilities as president of Mercy Health Physicians - Lima.

“(Justin) is a respected emergency medicine professional and experienced medical staff leader. He also understands the importance of informatics and data, which is vital in this new era of demonstrating how we deliver value to our patients,” Starcher said in a release.

Currently, Dr. McGoldrick serves as associate medical informatics officer for Mercy Health, where he’s been focused on rolling out a single electronic health record to all Mercy Health facilities in Ohio and Kentucky. Previously, he served as system coordinator, chief of staff, emergency department regional director, facility medical director and numerous other leadership roles for Tennova Healthcare facilities in Knoxville, Tenn.
