Ohio State football: New Jersey linebacker commits to Ohio State

Ohio State picked up another defensive recruit Saturday afternoon with the verbal commitment of Cody Simon.

A four-star linebacker from St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, N.J., Simon is the No. 154 player in the 247Sports Composite national rankings and the No. 10 outside linebacker.

He is the first linebacker to commit to Ohio State for the 2020 class and the fourth defensive player.

He is the second from New Jersey, joining four-star offensive lineman Luke Wypler of Montvale St. Joseph.

Ohio State entered the weekend with the No. 8 class in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten.

The Buckeyes were on top of the conference until a run of recruits picked up by Michigan in the past week, lifting Jim Harbaugh’s 2020 class to No. 5 in the country.
