Talawanda girls win cross country title

The Talawanda girls edged Ross for the Southwest Ohio Conference team title on Saturday at Harrison high school. Braves runner Sarah Starrett bested Ross’ Katelyn Goins by eight seconds for the individual championship. Mount Healthy narrowly defeated Ross 64-68 to win the boys title. Edgewood’s Andrew Testas finished second behind Little Miami’s Ian Thunhourst. Ross was led by Caleb Jones, who finished fourth overall.

GREATER MIDWEST CONFERENCE

The Mason boys and girls teams coasted to conference title victories on Saturday at Voice of America Park. Mason’s Nick Grismer and Tom Clark finished first and third respectively. Ben Call from Lakota East placed second with a time of 15:51. Fairfield’s Zach Birdsall was ninth overall. The girls individual title went to Abbie Vanfossen from Lakota East who ran a time of 18:43.
