Track and field
It was a big day for Valley View at the Division II district meet at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.
Zac Bussard finished second in the 1600-meter run (4:30.64) and third in the 3200-meter run (10:07.81). Shane Hannah won the discus throw (143-00) and finished second in shot put (44-00.0) and Sam Pheiffer qualified in the long jump (3rd, 19-09.25) and high jump (5-08.0).
Other Valley View qualifiers included Micah Matheson (pole vault, 12-06.0), Austin Vantrease (high jump, 5-10.0) and Tucker Parks (long jump, 19-04.75). Valley View also won the 3200-meter relay (8:14.58) and finished fourth in the 400-meter relay (46.05).
On the girls side, Hannah Thomas won the 100-meter hurdles (16.19) and 300-meter hurdles (46.96) and placed third in the long jump (16-03.0). Grace Dima won the pole vault (10-00.0) and Riley Blue placed third (8-06.0). Melinda McIntosh finished third in the 300-meter hurdles (49.91) and in the 100-meter hurdles (17.02), Faith Lewis placed second in the shot put (33-04.0) and Emily Bliss finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.76).
Fenwick: Jenni Rossi won the discus (116-04) and shot put (43-02.25), Katie Schierloh placed third in the high jump (5-00.0), Mickey McCalahan placed fourth in the shot put (32-00.0) and Katie McCarthy qualified in the 800-meter run (4th, 2:24.5). Fenwick girls also finished fourth in the 3200-meter relay (10:25.27). On the boys side Sean Sherman won the shot put (45-01.75).
Madison: Coty Cobb won the pole vault (15-00.0), Tyler Brown placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.36), Justin Thobe finished third in discus throw (134-03) and Hunter Nicholson was third in the pole vault (12-06.0). Sammy Creekbaum finished second in the girls pole vault (9-03.0).
Monroe: The boys finished fourth in the 800-meter relay (1:35.69) and third in the 400-meter relay (45.49). Individually Troy Kaiser qualified for the 400-meter dash (4th, 51.36). For the girls Tori Larison placed fourth in the high jump (4-10.0).
Division III: Cincinnati Christian had several boys and girls advance at the district meet at New Richmond. Kameron Antwine won the 200-meter dash (22.64) and placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.41), Andrew Spies won the 300-meter hurdles (41.21) and placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.97) and Jacob Roush finished third in the 800-meter run (2:06.3).
For the girls, Allison Higgins placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.55) and the 300-meter hurdles (50.22) and Laura Kindell finished fourth (14-11.5) in the long jump. The girls 1600-meter relay team (2nd, 4:22.5) and 800-meter relay team (4th, 1:54.58) qualified.
