Prep headlines: HHS boys soccer falls to Colerain

BOYS SOCCER

COLERAIN 3, HAMILTON 1: Cabral Christian scored the lone goal for Big Blue in Thursday’s road game. The assist came from Jonathan Fox and Nick Phillips. The loss dropped Hamilton to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Greater Miami Conference. The team returns to action Tuesday at home against Middletown.

ROSS 2, NORTHWEST 1: Brandon Burns scored a pair of goals and Jake Waldroff added an assist as the Rams stayed unbeaten Thursday night. The victory moved Ross to 6-0-1 overall and 3-0 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division, while the Knights slipped to 0-6-2, 0-2-1. Ross returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday at home against Finneytown.

CINCINNATI HILLS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 4, CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN 0: Thursday’s loss dropped the Cougars to 4-4. They return to action Saturday at home against Winton Woods.

GIRLS SOCCER

COLERAIN 6, HAMILTON 2: Big Blue’s Jessica Spicer and Falon Mohring scored in the loss Thursday night. Hamilton fell to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Greater Miami Conference.

VOLLEYBALL

COLERAIN 3, HAMILTON 1: The Cardinals won 25-11, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19. Leading players for Big Blue included Kelsey Robinson (seven kills), Erin Noga (seven kills), Hannah Keene (seven kills, five blocks). The loss dropped Hamilton to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Greater Miami Conference. The team returns to action Saturday at Ross.

LAKOTA WEST 3, FAIRFIELD 0: The Firebirds won by scores of 25-11, 25-10, 25-13 Thursday night. Leading players for the Indians (2-5, 0-2 Greater Miami Conference) were Karsen Cronin (11 kills, 10 digs), Jamie Hoskinson (17 digs), Kynesha Pitts (five kills) and Justine Kaminskey (20 assists).

CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN 3, NEW MIAMI 0: The Cougars won by scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-13 Thursday night. Leading players included Dani Rozulso (10 kills), Melissa Baab (10 aces, four kills), Katie Bandenburg (18 assists, eight aces, two kills), Kiersten Paul (four blocks), Anna Richter (three blocks), Abby Wolford (four digs), Anna Wolford (three blocks). Leading the way for New Miami (4-5) were Heather Thacker (12 kills, six digs, two blocks), Brittany Miller (four kills, three digs) and Kayla Phillips (six digs).

LAKOTA EAST 3, MIDDLETOWN 0: The Thunderhawks defeated the Middies 25-4, 25-11, 25-12 in a Greater Miami Conference match played Wednesday. East was led by Anna Star, 18 assists and four aces; Hannah Sigala, five kills; Carlie Haddad, four kills; and Hannah Berling, 10 assists.

BOYS GOLF

TALAWANDA 161, ROSS 171: The Braves clinched second place in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division with Thursday’s win at Circling Hills. Talawanda’s Trevor Foster was the medalist with a 2-over-par 38, while Robby Montgomery (39), Austin Thome (42) and Joe Bigler (42) also played well. Keegan Nichols led Ross with a 41. The Braves improved to 9-2, 6-1 FAVC West, while the Rams fell to 8-5, 5-2 FAVC West.

CARLISLE 185, EDGEWOOD 195: Brad Paynter shot a 42 on Wednesday, Sept. 15 to earn medalist honors in leading Carlisle to a win at Weatherwax Golf Course. Kyle Centers shot 45 to lead Edgewood (5-8). Carlisle is 8-3.
