Football roundup: Carlisle rolls over Dixie, eyes D-V playoff berth

Carlisle High School’s football team is apparently headed to the Division V, Region 18 playoffs.

Ridge Reed returned from an ankle injury and rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries Friday night as the Indians cruised past visiting Dixie 34-7.

Zayne Hart and D.J. Chambers added scoring runs for Carlisle, while Chambers also caught a TD pass from Adam Goodpaster.

The Indians finished the regular season 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division. The Greyhounds fell to 1-9, 1-5.

According to www.joeeitel.com, Carlisle has placed eighth in Region 18 and will visit top-seeded Brookville for a first-round playoff game Friday. In Division I, Region 2, Fairfield is projected as the 12th seed and expected to travel to No. 5 Elder next Saturday.

The official pairings will be announced Sunday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Middletown 36, Princeton 13: Blake Marshall threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for a score for the visiting Middies, while Allante Simmons had 140 yards and a TD on 21 rushes.

Eethan Edwards added two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown for the winners.

Middletown finished 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the Greater Miami Conference, ending in a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference. The Vikings are 3-7, 1-6.

Ross 30, Talawanda 24: Dustin Foley's touchdown in overtime was the difference as the host Rams won the wild Southwest Ohio Conference game, finishing 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the SWOC.

Foley ran 14 times for 123 yards and three TDs, also throwing for 216 yards and a score (to Jacob Brewer). Paul Young added a field goal.

For the Braves (0-10, 0-6), Kyle McIntosh threw for 183 yards and hit Jacob Orona for a pair of touchdowns. Mason Kuhn also crossed the goal line, Connor Wentzell collected 196 yards on 34 rushes, and Kevin Engelhard booted a field goal.

Madison 62, Northridge 38: Zach Friend finished his prep career with a flourish, running for 291 yards and five touchdowns on 14 carries for the visiting Mohawks.

Stephen Melton (12 carries, 97 yards) and Nick Svarda (10 carries, 70 yards, two TDs) were also standouts for Madison, and K.C. Lindon returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Ryan Friend added a scoring run.

The Mohawks wrapped up their second consecutive SWBL Buckeye Division championship and their first outright crown, finishing 7-3 overall and 6-0 in the SWBL. The Polar Bears are 4-6, 2-4.

Valley View 45, Eaton 7: Jake Neatherton (15 carries, 154 yards, two TDs) and Collin Genslinger (seven carries, 153 yards, two TDs) paced the rushing attack for the visiting Spartans, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Neatherton also caught a TD pass from Collin Wood, and P.J. Varnadoe chipped in a scoring run. Tyler Black booted a 29-yard field goal.

Valley View finished 5-5 overall and 1-5 in the SWBL Southwestern Division. The Eagles dropped to 2-8, 1-5.

Springboro 45, Lebanon 24: Elijah Cunningham threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns, two to Nick Kovacks, for the host Panthers.

Dylan Jones added a pair of touchdowns and 142 yards on 20 carries for Springboro, a Division I playoff qualifier that improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division.

Dakota Allen totaled 349 yards and two TDs through the air for the Warriors (4-6, 2-3).

Monroe 45, Preble Shawnee 6: The visiting Hornets finished 6-4 with the win, while the Arrows dropped to 3-7. No game details were reported.

Brookville 28, Franklin 7: The host Wildcats fell to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the SWBL Southwestern Division. The unbeaten Blue Devils (10-0, 6-0) are the Southwestern champions.

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 54, New Miami 6: P.J. Johnston marked 79 yards on 23 carries and Brian Hensley ran for a touchdown as the host Vikings finished 4-6. CHCA improved to 9-1.

Clark Montessori 64, Cincinnati Christian 7: Josh Schmitt ran for the lone touchdown for the host Cougars (0-7), while Clark finished 5-5.
