Ex-YMCA swim coach pleads guilty to child sex charge

A Cincinnati man who was the former assistant Lebanon Countryside YMCA swim coach pleaded guilty Monday in North Carolina to a sex charge involving a swim team member.

Patrick J. Jeanneret, 30, who also coached for years in Fairfield, was charged with “taking liberties with a child” at a Marriott Hotel in Greensboro, N.C., in April, according to police reports.

Jeanneret was given a suspended 16- to 29-month jail sentenced and placed on 36 months of supervised probation after entering the guilty plea in Guilford County court.

The team was attending a national YMCA meet in Greensboro at the time of the incident.

Jeanneret has coached hundreds of children in Butler and Warren counties, beginning his career at 17 as the assistant coach for Lakota Hills Swim Club. He took over as the head coach there at the age of 20.

Jeanneret also coached at Fairfield High School from 2007 to 2011, where he won two Greater Miami Conference Coach of the Year Awards.
