- Butler County Sheriff's deputies went to a Trenton house in search of a suspect from an overnight homicide in Madison Twp. When deputies knocked on the door, a man started shooting at them.
- Deputies returned fire and then retreated. Deputies then began negotiating with the man.
- An "elderly woman" was killed inside the Trenton home on Sal Boulevard after a hostage situation, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
- One woman, who was also a hostage, escaped the home.
- A man, who tried to commit suicide, is in custody and has been transported to a local hospital. When deputies entered the home, the man was alive and pointed a handgun under his chin and fired at least once.
