UPDATE: Woman reported missing while traveling to Middletown found safe

A woman from New York who was reported missing Tuesday while driving to Middletown has been found, according to the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are pleased to report this young lady has been found and will be reunited with her family,” according to the sheriff’s department Facebook page.

She was found Tuesday in Sheffield Twp., Ohio, according to the post.

Tonya Marie Lombardo, of Rome, N.Y., was last seen in the 2300 block of Plymouth Gageville Road in Sheffield Twp., according to a news release from the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff said Lombardo was traveling to Middletown to visit family when her car broke down on Ohio 11.

Her parents, James and Leigh Lombardo, wrote a letter to the sheriff’s office and applauded investigators for their “unbelievable professionalism, compassion and courtesy.”
