24-year-old dies after motorcycle crash in Middletown

A fatal traffic crash involving a motorcycle occurred Friday evening at 4:16 p.m. on Pershing Avenue near Morgan Street in Butler County, according to a release.

A 2005 Honda CBR600 motorcycle was traveling east on Pershing Avenue when the driver lost control, drove off the left side of the roadway, and overturned. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle before it struck a tree.

Brandon Steward, 24, of Middletown, was transported to Atrium Medical Center. He was later flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead, read the release.

Troopers on scene were assisted by the Middletown Police Department and Middletown Fire & EMS.

Speed is believed to play a factor in the crash, which is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Hamilton Post.
