Ohio’s youth hunters checked 6,563 white-tailed deer during the two-day youth gun season on Nov. 17 and 18, according to a release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). They were required to be accompanied by a non-hunting adult.
Youth hunters could pursue deer with a legal shotgun, muzzleloader, handgun or specific straight-walled cartridge rifle.
They can celebrate their hunt with a First Harvest certificate, available at wildohio.gov, by uploading their photo and inputting their information to personalize the certificate, read the release. They can also share photos.
