Earlier this year, the two organizations announced an affiliation agreement. Mercy Health is now the exclusive provider of sports medicine and rehabilitation services for Miami varsity sports, club sports and recreational-intramural sports under a health services agreement. In exchange, Mercy is paying $10 million over 13 years to help cover the cost of the new building.
The Athletic Performance Center is scheduled to open Jan. 1, 2017. It was named in December by a $6 million lead gift from Randy (Class of 1977) and Vicki Gunlock of the Dayton area.
Miami University and Mercy Health will also collaborate on academic initiatives for the health network’s employees.
