Quaker Steak & Lube plans first Butler County location

A motorsports-themed restaurant plans to open its first Butler County location next year.

Quaker Steak & Lube would be constructed on a 5.3-acre outlot at Joseph and Gilmore roads near Menards home improvement store, according to Kevin Scott, executive vice president for Bunnell Hill Development Co.

Site work is expected to start in mid- to late-October, assuming all goes in the restaurant’s favor during a Sept. 27 Fairfield Twp. Zoning Commission meeting, said Jim Combs, who owns and operates locations in Milford and Colerain Twp.

The eatery’s menu includes “a little something for everybody,” such as steaks, burgers, ribs, rolls, wraps, chicken wings, fish, soup, salads and children’s menu items, Combs said.

The Fairfield Twp. location would feature 8,700-square-feet of indoor dining to seat about 300 people and an outdoor, partially-covered L-shaped patio to seat about 100 people, Combs said.

“The unit itself is fashioned after an old Quaker State & Lube oil company type business,” he said. “It’s got a couple of fake gas pumps out front and the windows look like garage doors.”

Green and white awnings and a large arrow with the word “EAT” in neon lend to the restaurant’s distinctive look, he said.

“It’s kind of an old diner-type looking thing,” Combs said.

The restaurant will feature a mix of booth and table seating, as well as two indoor bars and 38 flatscreen televisions, including three 80-inch models. The outdoor patio will include another bar, plus six 46-inch flatscreen televisions, he said.

The restaurant could open as early as next spring, Combs said.
