Prytherch collected 20.2 percent of the vote, followed by Southard with 17.5 percent; Raghu with 15.82 percent, and Smith with 15.80 percent, according to unofficial results from the Butler County Board of Elections.
“I think that Oxford is an amazing town, it’s the most engaged community I’ve ever lived in, and it kind-of tells you that Oxford is a pretty progressive community,” Prytherch said. “And I think the results show that’s kind-of where Oxford is.”
He added: “It’s kind of a mixture of voters went for experience, and they went for vision. Some people were incumbents, and some people were fresh.”
Prytherch also called the results “a reaffirmation of our values in Oxford, which is people value our community and our general welfare, and I think that this represents an affirmation that we need to stay true to what makes Oxford unique.”
He also called himself “lucky to live here and serve here.”
Other candidates and their unofficial vote totals were:
- Corey A. Watt with 10.3 percent
- Samantha E. Vogel with 5.5 percent
- Drew Davis with 5.2 percent
- Jace Prows with 5.1 percent
- Austin Worrell with 4.6 percent
Many of the candidates in the race told the Journal-News they wanted to see Oxford become more of a tourist destination by leveraging such things as its variety of festivals and other activities, such as arts events and the variety of offerings, such as sports, at Miami University.
