Police reports: Cell phone thief tries to sell item back

Feb. 15

Bags of Ruffles and Cheetos chips were stolen from Kroger, 1450 S. Erie Hwy.

A 21-year-old man was punched in the face while walking in the area of North Third Street.

Feb. 16

Someone attempted to pry open a storage closet outside an apartment in the 400 block of Hampshire Drive.

A 47-year-old woman reported equipment was stolen from inside her vehicle while parked in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue.

A cell phone was stolen in the 300 block of Hampshire Drive after the owner dropped it in a parking lot. When the 18-year-old owner called his phone, a man attempted to sell it back to him before hanging up.

A checkbook and $20 in change were stolen from a car parked in the 1000 block of Parkamo Avenue.

A PlayStation 3 valued at $300 was taken from a residence in the 800 block of Sycamore Street.

An employee of Walmart, 1505 Main St., reported $60 worth of clothes and jewelry were stolen from the store.

A cell phone was stolen from an unlocked car in the 700 block of High Street.

Damages amounting to $3,750 were reported on windows, doors and interior walls of a home in the 1000 block of Symmes Avenue.

Someone entered an apartment in the 1000 block of Bishop Avenue and stole $300 cash from the resident while he was sleeping.

A Sega game system and jacket were stolen from a 23-year-old man living in the 500 block of Butler Street.

Copper piping was removed from a vacant rental property in the 1000 block of Campbell Avenue.

Someone spray-painted “We got bed bugs” on a fence outside a home in the 1000 block of Goodman Avenue.

A 26-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the 1000 block of Harmon Avenue.

The Sprint store on Brookwood Avenue reported its front door was smashed out and seven cell phones were stolen.

Feb. 18

Two tires on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am were slashed in the 700 block of Symmes Road.

A 17-year-old girl reported someone got her to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana until she passed out.

A purse was stolen from a 2001 Honda Civic after the suspect broke out the driver’s side window.
