Officers and troopers will also aggressively combat alcohol-related crashes by combining tonight’s checkpoint with saturation patrols.
Over the Fourth of July holiday last year, the Ohio State Highway Patrol made 749 OVI arrests from Thursday, July 3, 2014, through Sunday, July 6, 2014. During that time, 11 fatal crashes resulted in 12 deaths, and four crashes were OVI-related.
In all of 2014, there were 349 OVI-related fatalities, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
