No more recycling for me

I read about the new Rumpke contract. Why can't the city get bids from CSI or Waste Management, instead of just giving everything to Rumpke? I think it costs too much already. I don't want a big Rumpke garbage can. I don't want a big Rumpke recycling bin. I have one bag of trash a week. We shouldn't have to pay for their inflation. We pay taxes. The city has been picking up the trash all these (years). I haven't had a raise in six years. My health insurance co-pay went from 20 percent to 50 percent in the last year and a half. I bring home less than I did when I started my job 13 years ago. Also, from this day on, I will not recycle anymore. Rumpke makes money off the recyclables. I'm just tired of everything going up in price when my paycheck keeps going down.

Editor's note: The city sought bids, as required, but Rumpke was the only bidder.

Regarding the Rumpke price increases: This is not the Soviet Union. We do have options. We do have choices. You cannot throw stuff like this in our faces. If Rumpke wants to throw this in my face, there will be a monster-size pile of trash in my yard that I will not pick up. You don't tell us what we have to do with our trash cans.

The current red Rumpke recycling boxes are filled to overflowing in my neighborhood. The result? Every week I take a bag and pick up their "recycled" stuff off my lawn. A lidded container, no matter what size, will be an improvement for my back and the neatness of the area.
