Ohio Department of Health: 27,474 cases, 1,610 deaths from coronavirus in Ohio

There are 27,474 cases of coronavirus and 1,610 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Ohio as of Saturday, May 16, the Ohio Department of Health reported.

A total of 25,836 cases and 1,457 deaths are confirmed. The rest fall under guidelines from the Center for Disease Control that allow for reporting more cases.

4,870 people are in the hospital and are 1,300 in an intensive care unit.

Gov. Mike DeWine will not host a press conference today to address state officials’ response to the virus.

This week, Ohio will continue to reopen. Thursday, May 21, campgrounds will be allowed to reopen and Friday, May 22, horse racing is allowed to resume. However, racinos will remain closed and spectators are not permitted.
